When you leave Lisbon airport, you have several transportation options to get to the city center or other destinations of your choice:
1-Taxi: You can take a taxi from the airport to your destination. Taxis are located outside the airport terminal and are available 24 hours a day. Lisbon taxis are equipped with a meter.
2-Metro: Lisbon’s metro is a convenient and economical option to get to the city center. The metro station is located inside the airport and tickets can be purchased at the machines or at the counters. There are four metro lines in Lisbon: the red line, the green line, the blue line and the yellow line.
3-Bus: There are several bus lines that serve Lisbon airport, with routes that take you to different parts of the city. Bus stops are located in front of the arrivals terminal.
4-Airport shuttles: Private airport shuttles can also be booked in advance to take you directly to your destination in Lisbon. Fares vary depending on the distance traveled and the size of the group.
5-Car rental: You can also rent a car at Lisbon airport to explore the city and its surroundings. Several car rental agencies are available in the arrivals hall of the airport.

The ticketing system of Lisbon metro is based on the use of rechargeable cards called « Viva Viagem » which can be purchased and recharged at metro stations, points of sale, and vending machines. Here are some important information about the Lisbon metro ticketing system:
1- Single tickets: Single tickets (« Bilhete simples ») are valid for a single journey and cost 1.50€. They can be used on metro lines, buses, trams, and funiculars.
2- Multiple tickets: It is possible to purchase multiple tickets (« Bilhetes 24h », « Bilhetes 48h » and « Bilhetes 72h ») for a defined period of time. These tickets allow unlimited use of the metro, buses, trams, and funiculars during the duration of the ticket.
3- Rechargeable cards: The rechargeable « Viva Viagem » card costs 0.50€ and can be recharged with single or multiple tickets. It is valid for one year after its first use.
4- Reduced fares: Children under 4 travel for free. Children aged 4 to 12, students, and people over 65 years old benefit from reduced fares.
